ANNOUNCEMENT
* PLEASE NOTE *
THIS EVENT IS IN PLANNING STAGES - EVENTS AND TIMES MAY CHANGE
We are saddened and disappointed by the recent announcement of the closure of Arthur Voaden Secondary School at the end of this school year, but not completely surprised.
Everyone was aware that the school's days were numbered but we had, of course, hoped for one more year in order to celebrate the centenary, to get one more tour through the halls, one more dance in the cafeteria, one more chance to relive the glory days.
Fortunately, we made back-up plans... which unfortunately we now have to implement. We will be holding the celebration on September 26, 2026. We have secured the use of St. Anne's Centre, and there we will honour the school that means so much to us.
There will be activities throughout the day organized by the Centenary Committee, including:
- A wonderful display of memorabilia, including yearbooks, photos, videos, uniforms and much more!
- A meet-and-greet event with as many former and current teachers as we can get
- Time slots for meet-ups with your graduating class
- Information about the AVSS Alumni Association – it is more important than ever that we stay connected!
- A dance in the evening with a particularly AVSS twist
We are reaching out to the TVDSB and the Minister of Education to see if there is any possibility that even a portion of the school can be made available to us. If so, we will update the weekend's plans at that time.
The spirit of AVSS will live on!
Warm wishes from your Arthur Voaden Centenary Planning Committee.
